Are E-Bikes Allowed on Glacier and Whitefish Routes?
Rules vary by land manager. Glacier currently allows an e-bike only when the motor is less than 750 watts and engages only while the rider pedals. Glacier hiking trails and backcountry areas remain closed to bicycles. The Whitefish Trail prohibits e-bikes.

The short answer
Do not assume that changing a display setting converts a configurable bike into a legally accepted Class 1 bicycle. Ask the responsible authority about the exact motor, throttle, speed setting, and physical configuration.

The NPS rule uses both a motor threshold and a pedal-operation requirement. Riders should contact Glacier National Park at 406-888-7800 and obtain current guidance for unusual or configurable equipment.
Beyond the park
Whitefish city routes, the Whitefish Trail, county facilities, Flathead National Forest roads and trails, and other lands can follow different rules. Check the exact route with the responsible land manager shortly before riding.
