How GoWhys Chooses Trusted Partners and Recommendations

A GoWhys relationship begins with evaluation, continues through transparency, and becomes a recommendation only when the business fits a particular traveler or circumstance.

Trusted Partner and Trusted Recommendation are not the same

A Trusted Partner is a business GoWhys has directly evaluated, knows sufficiently well, and maintains an active working relationship with. A Trusted Recommendation is an editorial conclusion that the business may fit a particular traveler, need, or circumstance.

Trusted Partner status is not a blanket endorsement. A partner should appear in guidance only when the facts make that business relevant. GoWhys may identify non-partner businesses or alternatives when they better fit the traveler.

The GoWhys Trusted Recommendation designation is reserved for businesses that have received the deeper evaluation and continued oversight required of Trusted Partners.

Participation is invitation only

Businesses cannot purchase an invitation or apply through a public form. GoWhys identifies potential partners through its own evaluation of the business, its judgment, and the information it makes available to customers.

We look for businesses whose information helps people decide whether a service fits, including circumstances when the service is beneficial and when it is not. A business that willingly directs a customer elsewhere when another choice is better demonstrates the customer-first judgment GoWhys wants to recognize.

Popularity, advertising claims, and unsupported statements of superiority are not enough. Balanced explanations, meaningful limitations, practical expertise, and concern for customer satisfaction carry more weight than boastful promotion.

Trust is evaluated continuously

Trusted Partner status is not awarded once and then forgotten. GoWhys asks Trusted Partners to answer a new set of customer-focused questions each month.

The questions may address common misunderstandings, changing conditions, customer expectations, service limitations, who benefits most, and who may be better served by another option. Partners answer from their own knowledge, and GoWhys does not invent answers when a partner does not respond.

Useful answers may become permanent informational pages on the partner's website after the partner has reviewed the factual information. This process helps travelers while allowing GoWhys to continue evaluating whether the partner's public information remains balanced, truthful, professional, and customer-first.

Repeated nonparticipation, evasive answers, or unwillingness to discuss meaningful limitations will trigger reevaluation and will ordinarily result in removal of Trusted Partner status.

Why publishing oversight matters

A business could earn trust by publishing balanced information and later remove the limitations that helped customers make informed decisions. For that reason, a Trusted Partner must allow GoWhys to manage or directly supervise the partner's ongoing informational content.

Balanced explanations, limitations, and poor-fit circumstances must remain available. Material changes should not be made without GoWhys' knowledge. Loss of necessary publishing oversight triggers immediate reevaluation.

GoWhys may mention, compare, or recommend other businesses when appropriate, but businesses whose independently controlled information GoWhys cannot continuously verify do not receive the Trusted Partner designation.

Partner confidentiality and nonexclusive recognition

GoWhys does not share one partner's nonpublic information, unpublished answers, strategies, customer information, or operational details with another business. Monthly questions focus on consumer-relevant knowledge, not trade secrets or competitive intelligence.

Partner answers remain nonpublic until factual content intended for publication has been reviewed. Similar questions may be asked of businesses in the same field, but their unpublished responses remain separate and are not used to develop a competitor's content.

GoWhys does not promise category exclusivity. More than one Trusted Partner may be recognized within a category when the businesses independently meet the standards or serve meaningfully different traveler needs. Selectivity and practical capacity may nevertheless result in only one partner in a category.

When Trusted Partner status may be removed

GoWhys may suspend or remove the designation when a partner provides materially misleading information, creates credible concerns involving safety, legality, service quality, or customer treatment, pressures GoWhys to alter independent conclusions, or no longer cooperates with factual verification and balanced publishing.

Status may also be reviewed when ownership, operations, qualifications, services, or other material circumstances change. Ending a commercial relationship triggers review but does not require GoWhys to delete accurate historical information automatically.

What the absence of a business means

GoWhys is selective and incomplete by design. A business that does not appear on GoWhys has not necessarily been evaluated, rejected, or judged negatively. Current coverage reflects the businesses and subjects GoWhys knows sufficiently well to evaluate responsibly.

No travel publication can know every business equally well. GoWhys would rather explain a limited number of recommendations responsibly than publish a directory of unsupported endorsements.
