Why Can Whitefish and Logan Pass Weather Be So Different?
Logan Pass is much higher and is generally colder than western gateway communities. The Continental Divide can also produce sharply different east-side and west-side conditions.

The short answer
Do not dress or choose an activity using only the temperature at your hotel. Check the forecast for the exact park area and elevation.
Elevation matters
The National Park Service says higher elevations such as Logan Pass are generally 10 to 15 degrees Fahrenheit cooler than West Glacier. Overnight temperatures can reach freezing, and snow can occur in any month.
The Divide matters
Moist Pacific air from the west and colder, drier air from the northeast meet at the Continental Divide. The west is generally wetter, while the east is often cooler, sunnier, and much windier.
