Current Weather Conditions in Sedona

Current weather information is temporarily unavailable.

Elevation can create false confidence

Sedona sits below Flagstaff and can be substantially warmer. Red-rock surfaces, limited shade, dry air, and direct sun increase heat stress even when the air temperature sounds lower than a Phoenix forecast.

Use the forecast to change the schedule

Place the most exposed activity shortly after daylight rather than treating noon as the natural center of the day. Set a firm turnaround time, especially on routes where the return is more exposed or demanding. An early start does not compensate for insufficient water, poor conditioning, illness, or an excessive route.

Know when to stop

Headache, dizziness, nausea, unusual weakness, confusion, or loss of coordination require immediate action. Move to a cooler place, stop exertion, and seek emergency help for severe or worsening symptoms. Do not depend on thirst as the only warning.

Choose a lower-risk alternative

  • Use a scenic drive or a short shaded walk instead of a long exposed hike.
  • Schedule museums, galleries, meals, or a rest period during the hottest hours.
  • Confirm that a guided activity's pace and water plan fit every traveler.
  • Recheck air quality, fire restrictions, and trail closures as well as temperature.
